Doctor Who at the Proms
Jan. 7th, 2009 07:24 pmBrilliant. Absolutely fantastic. I could say more, but it would be all exclamations of awe, so you know - just fill in the words you think are appropriate, here:

Brave conductor was even trying to fight the Daleks. He failed, of course, poor guy *g*
I just wish Freema wasn't so giddy half of the time. It felt a bit out of place, really.

Last.fm and layout dilemma
Nov. 23rd, 2008 11:55 amSo, anyone else using Last.fm?
I've just signed up and it already pisses me off. The pages load so slowly and with every other song I get "there was a problem with connection" message. Aaargh! Not to mention, that each album I was trying to play, wouldn't start with the first song, but somewhere in the middle of second one.
Right now I'm this close to give up on the whole thing. Looks like it's more trouble than useful. And yeah, I'm not the most patient person in the world...
On the LJ note - I think I may have to change my layout again. The icon table for my
scifi100 challenge doesn't fit in this one. And I think changing it will be easier than fiddling with the table's coding.
Dammit! I like THIS layout... :(

Jan. 20th, 2008 04:42 pmEvery time I'm listening to Concierto de Aranjuez something flips inside me. I don't know what it is about this piece, that I get so damn emotional. I don't even have any specific memories connected to it.
I'm re-reading Prelude to Dune novels. And I'm falling in love with Duncan Idaho, all over again. It's been some time...
It's really silly, and don't even know why, but for me Christmas season starts when I first hear George Michael's "Last Christmas" (I hate and love this song with equal force).
Since I practically stopped listening to the radio this year, I hoped I will be spared a little longer. But I went to see "Babel" last week (great movie, btw) and was a bit early. So I went for a little walk through the mall - and there it was, through all the speakers.
So, ladies and gentlemen - the show officially begun...
Flipping through channels, I stumbled across Keane, live, from somewhere.
I like the band enough to listen to them voluntarily, but it was the first time that I noticed, how much they sound like early U2. It's not a bad thing. U2 is, in music, love of my life. The way Edge plays - you can always tell it's him (well, I can). And when I was listening to this song (I don't even know the title) it sounded like it could be recorded on "Boy" or "War".
It brought many nice memories and made me smile.
