Comment to this post and I will give you 5 subjects/things I associate you with. Then post this in your LJ and elaborate on the subjects given.

Below the cut are 5 subjects [livejournal.com profile] tarlanx gave me. It's actually fun, trying to "explain" myself =)

1.The art of making icons

I'm assuming the word art is used here in its general meaning. Because what I'm doing hardly qualifies ;)

When I got in LJ part of fandom (Stargate, to be precise), I was just a taker. I read fics, I used other people's icons and graphics. And at one point I started to think about giving something back. I would have loved to write - unfortunately my English is not good enough. Believe me, I've tried. So I sort of settled for second best.
Learning Photoshop from scratch was fun. And mostly trial and error. Luckily there are great people over [livejournal.com profile] icon_tutorial and their guidance helps a lot.
Making icons is fun. Figuring out what to do with a screencap or a picture. Deciding how to play with colors, if I want text or anything extra added on it. What the icon is suppose to say.
Sometimes it's a very painful process, when I know what I want, but I'm just not good enough to get it. Or when I'm out of ideas completely and unable to make anything decent for days.

I love specific colorings, especially darker ones, with browns and oranges. I love b&w.
Recently I've decided to broaden my horizons and now I also do stock and text only icons.
I'm not going to deny, that I love when people comment on my posts. And when I see someone actually using my stuff, it really makes my day.

2.Work is hell

This one made me laugh. It's true, I whine about it a lot. But the thing is, I like my work. It's the people I have problems with.

I'm allergic to stupidity. I have no mercy for those, who keep making the same mistakes again and again and again. I can't stand when people are not willing to learn and still have the audacity to claim they know better. I hate office politics and seeing someone trying to gain something at other people's expense.
But at the same time, I don't know how to say no. Even when I'm asked to explain something for a umpteenth time or clear someone else's mess.
All this, combined with my explosive and bitchy character, means I'm losing my temper way too often.

3. Merlin

Ahh, Merlin. My newest, shiny, slashy obsession =) Although I wonder if it's not some kind of rebound, for all the mess and disappointment I feel courtesy of last SGA season. But in the end - does it really matter?

Funny thing is - at the beginning I didn't see the shine at all. When I saw ep 1 for the first time I thought "Ok, whatever". I was bored. I thought I don't need another show with barely adult cast. Even ASH (main reason I even gave it a try) didn't seem to make it more interesting.
Ep 2 made it even worse. There were snakes, dammit! They may have been not very good CG ones, but they were hissing and biting people and showing their fangs... It was more than I could take. Yes, my phobia is really that strong.
I gave up.
But few weeks later, I was exceptionally bored (can't remember why, maybe another wave of Photoshop block *g*). I decided to give Merlin another chance. I watched ep 3 and it was like someone hit the "switch on" button in my brain. By the time I was halfway through,I was totally hooked and completely in love.

Cookies for the person who can explain this.

I think what draws me to this show the most, is the incredible chemistry between Bradley and Colin. It reminds me so much of David and Joe and best John & Rodney moments. This is something quite rare. And for me it's the main reason this show works. Those two guys make it work (and the fact they're both cute as button only helps *g*).

4.A picture a day

Sometime in December, [livejournal.com profile] burningchaos posted link to this site. I thought it was a really cool idea.

I always liked photography. I did it a lot, especially in high school (the old-fashioned way, since it was a pre-digital era). I wanted to do it again.
I also hoped it may have sort of therapeutic effect on me. You see, I don't leave my flat too often. Except for work. I hoped it'll make me go out more, instead of being holed up here most of the time. 'Cos I realize it's not very healthy.
It's not exactly working. That's why you're treated with the pictures of my cat so often. But I'm not ready to give up yet.

5.Cameron Mitchell

Ben Browder is hot, period. What more there's to know?
...
Oh, all right, if you insist...

I used to think no one could replace Jack. Even after season 8, I couldn't imagine different guy taking his place. But I liked Cam instantly and I think he turned out really ok.
At the beginning, he was too often acting like and overexcited puppy. He was a fanboy, that got up close and personal with his idols.
He grew out of this, found his place. He may not be "original" SG-1, but in time he became a real member of the team, nonetheless. He's a great soldier and leader, a very strong person and has a heart in the right place.
Did I mention he's hot? *g*

So, that's it. And I'm sure by tomorrow I'll have even more to add =)
And let me know if you want me to pick the 5 things for you.

Wonderful answers!!! I've still not watched any of Merlin - I guess I don't want to let go of SGA yet and am afraid I might get sucked into a new fandom before I'm ready!

It doesn't have to be about letting go. I still consider SGA my main fandom. Even if on daily basis I squee more about other shows =)

*nods* Of course he is ;)
But I figure this whole thing is about making pictures of different things, not just one cat. Even if he's awesomest of all =)

I don't necessarily take pictures of different things but I find that I look at the same things differently. Like the tree stump, I took that picture at a different angle, while crouched down which I wouldn't have before.
