My comp works again!!!

Out of sheer desperation, I've taken it apart this afternoon. And when I put it back together, it started working! Just like that.

*does a happy dance*

Oh, I have no doubts, poor thing is still dying. Runs at 3/4 of normal speed, I can't watch any movies (I get constant sound "hiccups"), it freezes every once in a while, it takes good 20 seconds to open even the smallest e-mail.

It's still better than nothing.

*clings to Photoshop*

That's good news...sort of. :-( I hope it keeps working until you can figure out another solution.

There is no other solution. Not in any foreseeable future :( So I'm just going to pray it keeps working.

Have you any idea what is 'not working'? Is it RAM or the HD or power supply? I had severe problems with this PC crashing (blue screen of death) several times a day. Turned out to be a RAM chip that had failed. I bought new RAM, swapped it out and have not had BSOD since!

It's HD, mostly (is so weak, it has problems with my OS). But other things has started to fail, too. No BSOD, though, thank God for that, at least.

Perhaps you should replace it then. I had to do that on my previous PC - it's not that hard to do, and HDs are pretty cheap at the moment.

Definitely cheaper =)

But it looks like I may get a new one after all, as a combined gift for my birthday/Christmas. So maybe I won't have to check if I'm capable of major comp repairs =)
