Right now I really, really want Ianto to dump Jack.

I hoped that this will be the end of Jack/Gwen monstrosity we've got this season. And in a way it was. At least she got married after all. Plus the honeymoon means we won't see her in next episode (maybe more, but I don't think we'll be this lucky).

What I got from this episode is, that Ianto is Jack's second choice. And maybe Owen was right about Ianto never being more than Jack's part-time shag.

It broke my heart, when Ianto interrupted Jack and Gwen's dance to have Jack for himself for a moment. It wasn't sweet. It wasn't them. For me, it was a bit desperate attempt to remind Jack who he's sleeping with.  And Jack humored him, of course he did, but he still looked at Gwen. Like he did through the whole episode, with his eyes saying "I love you and I regret I'm letting you go".

Jack is  trying to be  the better man here. So he settles for Ianto, who is sweet and fun to be around. But not what Jack (apparently) really wants.

And Ianto deserves better.

When I first read about the "development" in Jack and Ianto relationship, I never thought it would eventually lead me to a moment when I want Ianto to tell Jack to go and screw himself. On screen.

I'm so sick of the writers beating us over the head with Jack and Gwen. The ship sailed long ago and yet there it is, long, woe begotten looks and Ianto looking more and more like a puppy dog every single episode. I'm really frustrated at Jack as well as the writers, and like you, I think Ianto should grow some balls and "dump him," whatever it is they are, or get a girlfriend/boyfriend/new interest. Ianto does deserve better. Ianto's a compassionate guy that deserves the same in return.

Exactly. Especially, that in first season we've gone of this crap, not from Jack anyway. It's beyond me, why writers thought it would be cool to have this kind of "drama" this season...

Seriously. I felt a lot more fiery passion between Owen/Gwen, yet that arch lasted all of a few episodes. What's going on? I mean, way make it a thing mid-season two?

By the way, Anna is my name, too. :D

Because it was all that was between Gwen and Owen - passion and simply lust and a need to let go with a person who knows. A reset.

With Jack, I suspect it's suppose to be "true love"... *shudders*

I see your points, sort of - but I didn't interpret the episode the same way you did at all - I thought Jack and Ianto were utterly lovely together in it. Especially the dance, which I thought was sweet, and togetherish - Jack being happy with who he was with. Can't see him as 'settling', or, if he is settling, I wouldn't think so on the evidence of this episode. Because I thought Ianto here was magnificent, and I don't think Jack failed to notice!

Well, it's all in the interpretation, right? And I'm certainly not expecting everybody to see it as I do. So I guess we have to agree to disagree :)

But you're right about one thing - Ianto was magnificent, and not only here, but through the whole season.

Yes - just when I think he can't get any better, he says or does something that's a whole new level of cute and clever.
