And here I thought my problems with computer has ended...

My Kaspersky died on me this morning. Out of the blue, I wasn't even downloading anything, just browsing my usual sites.
And I couldn't restart the damn thing.

*headdesk*

I get totally paranoid when my anti virus is not working. Up to the point where I'm unplugging my modem, so it makes looking for help much more difficult. I guess I'll spend most of my time at work browsing net for any clues what could happen and what to do.

*repeats headdesk*

Anyone using this program? Did something like this happen to you?

Yup, I got it sorted =)

I don't use kaspersky.... but if you are careful you can browse without antivirus..... I mean not clicking at unknown links/sites....

Not a good idea as even 'safe' sites get hacked all too frequently! Better off with a free anti-virus like AVAST (avast.com)

I agree with [livejournal.com profile] tarlanx. Plus, my paranoia wouldn't let me do it.
Luckily, I managed to sort it out :)

Congrats then :D But still, how many virus has kaspersky intercepted in your pc the last month? zero maybe? I bet it is zero. Paranoia is good, but browsing is safer than it may look if you don't go to 'certain' sites, and LJ is safe after all, even if somebody hacks users they can not change the ads and LJ policy avoids popups for ads, it is popups what can have 'malicius' code ^___^ and I know murphy laws, their existence is the only problem XD

Actually, he intercepted quite a few worms. Even though I'm not browsing any "suspicious" sites, have Firefox set to permanently block pop ups and as a paid user, I don't see any ads on LJ.
*sighs*
So you see it's hard to let my paranoia go ;)

[identity profile] arkray.livejournal.com 2009-04-04 09:35 am (UTC)(link)
Really? I'm really surprised.... mine does not and I run 'hijackthis' from time to time just in case and I have nothing running that should not have to be there.... and I can tell you I go to 'weird' sites 'sometimes' (I'm a pirate, yes, I recognize it) :3 Ok, don't worry, you solved the problem so everything is ok ^_____^

OH! I NEVER open emails that I'm not sure they are 'real' :D

Maybe a hero?

[identity profile] andrea-ze.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 01:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, maybe good ol“Kasper saved your PC by sacrifiezing himself!
The conficker was activated yesterday!

See here:
http://www.microsoft.com/protect/computer/viruses/worms/conficker.mspx
The virus called Conficker is a trojan, destroying files anf collecting data. The bloke whio designed it had it hidden under various open sides - like lycos! - and who got it, is screwed. It was suppose to be activated on April the 1st...
So maybe this ic the case?

Just suggesting!
Greetings.

I managed to re-install it, and full scan didn't show any virus. Thank God =)

Download and install AVAST - if you're on PC rather than MAC (avast.com)
It's FREE for home users.

I've tried Avast before, but my comp didn't like it.
I'm actually pretty happy with Kaspersky, especially now that I've re-installed it and the scan didn't show any virus =)
