I'm pretty anal about proper warnings for the fics. You know: death, rape/non-con, specific kink. And "unrequited".

I've just spent few hours, reading through 120+ pages, only to find out that at the end it's still "only one wants". To say I'm disappointed would be an understatement.
The thing is - it was really good stuff. Well written, good plot, lots of Rodney-whump and Sheppard comforting, great team moments.
But I was in the mood for some happy-ending fics (McShepy way happy ending). Any other day, when I'm in proper mood and if I knew what to expect, I'd be happy to read it and able to appreciate it properly. Today, I shrugged it off as a waste of time...

And now it's too late and my eyes are too tired to read anything else.

This is why I'm glad I sometimes read the last paragraph of fics. Especially if they're long and I don't know (i.e. trust) the author. There was a poll about that recently actually. But I don't care if it's freakish, because it saves me from heartbreak and John/Rodney is supposed to be my happy place.

So I really feel for you. (Can't you maybe write a sequel with happy end in your mind?)

Unfortunately (?) I'm also pretty anal about not reading the endings. I never do with books and it's kind of hard to break the habit for fics ;)
Plus, the last paragraph not always implies "they lived happily ever after", even if they do. And the other way round.

Poll? I've missed it. I wonder what were people's comments.

I found it! here (http://tvm.livejournal.com/151258.html?format=light).

Yes, sometimes the ending doesn't really give you full picture. I was thoroughly confused by the last bit of "Take Clothes Off As Directed", so I read with caution.

And I don't do this all the time, just when subject matter or summary seem to indicate the possibility that it might end badly. I just can't take that without being properly prepared for it (and even then I'll avoid it in most cases).

I'd never do it in a book (or movie), and I like to remain unspoiled for episodes, too. I think the difference is that SGA eps are canon no matter what and with books or movies I'm not already invested in the characters. But with fanfic I can choose not to read something that will leave John and/or Rodney broken-hearted. And I exercise that choice, because as I said, they are my happy place.
