SGA

It was one of those episodes that - despite the loads of John & Rodney goodies - irritated me to no end

Let's start with the bad: the kid, of course. I just couldn't stomach her. It doesn't really matter that she's supposed to behave like this. I have an allergy for those types of kids in RL and I can't stand them when they're just character in a show or a movie. The urge to smack the little brat is just too strong.

The Genii made me go "huh?" I thought their strategy was to show the "simple farmers" face to their trading partners, especially those less technologically advanced. And it couldn't be just some rogue party, since there was a talk about re-establishing trading. I'd love to see Radim's explanation.

The thing that bothered me the most (apart from the kid) was that John was blackmailed to agree to the role of a bodyguard. Point blank, in the face blackmailed. Why he agreed? What's so special about this planet? Because even if he thought it's gonna be 'a walk in the park", he didn't react to an obvious threat. And I doubt thte trade agreement includes services like this, whenever the whatever-the-name-of-the-planet feels necessary. Big, red "WTF??" was hanging over my head for good few minutes after this scene.

The good: the fact that  we 've got another John & Rodney show.
The fact that Rodney said "John" sooo many times *g*.
Rodney's "A lot of people, particularly young women  falls for John Sheppard charms".  This made my slashy heart squee, because, seriously, why Rodney thought he needed to be both general and specific in this statement? XD
John's facial expressions - each one was priceless.
And the painting... I had a fit of hysterical laughter when I saw it. Rodney will never let John live this down! *g*

I'm still happily spoiler free (and "Quarantine" was another proof that I should stay this way). All in all, it's a great season. Can't wait for the next  episode.

This is why I read reviews. They point out things that I didn't notice.

"A lot of people, particularly young women falls for John Sheppard charms"
You are so right. Why didn't he just say "A lot of women, especially young ones..."?

This episode has probably a lot of subtext that's not even apparent at first (or second sight). Of course there is so much more to cover in this case, because they are in almost every scene. Not that I'm complaining ;)

And you're right about staying spoiler free. It's never a good thing when I know something about the ep. So I'm trying to avoid spoilers, too. But I guess I should try harder.
