"The Road Not Taken"
Sorry, I just can't help myself.
Let's start with I didn't like:
1.It just had to be Sam, right? Because, really, why do something original for a change? Like "sending" Bill Lee to a parallel universe and make their Carter help him back. I mean, he knows about her experiments, he could point them in right directions as well. But nooo, we must get more Carter. Like her almost dying last week wasn't enough.
2.Was it my poor English and lack of understanding or did we see president Landry saying that they won't let her go and the next moment there's Rodney saying they're sending her back? And speaking of this - how exactly she was send back? I thought the last we've heard was Lee saying creating the same circumstances won't be possible and all simulations were "busted" (it was exact word). So? I know it's thanks to Rodney's help, but they needed a ZPM last time. So, how? Way too short cut for me.
3.Ok, I just have a problem with Carter in general. Nothing new. Suck it up or stop reading. Whatever.
What I liked:
1. RODNEY!!! God, he looks so cute in glasses...

I only wish they let him wore something more than the same shirt & pants all the time (no shirt, preferably... *vbg*.
And pardon me, be he didn't strike as a "jerk" as it was suggested at the beginning of this ep. Ex-husband or not. He was far worse in "48 hours" or even "Redemption".
And why, for a change, couldn't he be the genius-fighter for freedom? The writers has no imagination at all (really, nothing new).
2. Major Lorne - that is a bonus in itself. Making him a leader of SG-1 was actually pretty clever. Pity, they didn't tell who the others were (since it's obvious it couldn't be "the usual" lot). But huge plus for this, nonetheless.
3. Cameron... Poor baby.

What they did to you. The bastards...
4. And it WAS Rodney, who saved your ass, dear Lt. Colonel Carter!

Suck it up, Sam. *g*
I admit, I actually liked the plot. The Earth was so totally different and yet in a absolutely believable way. Looking at current state of things, I can see it happen, even tomorrow, if the Stargate was real and revealed.
Landry as a president/dictator was interesting. I don't know USA history that well, but I can't recall if it was ever in similar situation before. Poland was (and worse), so it was frighteningly familiar.
All in all - pretty good episode. They even mentioned that Daniel's still missing

Strange, but even with way too much Sam, I liked it better than "Submersion".

Gah, I can't stand Sam any more and I'm so glad I'm not alone. Actually I've not even watched the ltest episodes of SG1 as I got so dissillusioned with it and as my brother tells me the last couple were centred around Sam then I'm doubly glad I gave them a miss.

Also - you know, I should definitely socialize more here... *sneaking off to friend
